St Andrews photography shoots are always good fun. The West Sands Beach in particular is a great location for a pre-wedding shoot. Made famous by the beach scene in Chariots of Fire (which I’ve never actually seen) the West Sands was the perfect setting for this young couple from Dundee to have some engagement photos taken. I love it when a plan comes together. The weather, the light, the surroundings and the couple. All important ingredients for a successful shoot. If you asked a photographer when is the best time to take photos I would think the majority would say ‘the golden hour’. Roughly the last hour of the setting sun – or on the other hand the morning sun if you’re an early riser. Which is precisely the time I decided to meet up with Sammy and Steve. Only seconds into starting with the photos we had a photobomber wearing a wig run past. It certainly added to the informal nature of the shoot as we strolled in and around the sand dunes and along the beach. A great way to spend a summer’s evening.
